Anxious dog walkers fear a huge hole dug out by yobs and filled with rubbish is an accident waiting to happen.
The large void, believed to be about 4ft deep, appeared a week ago in a sandy field near The Pheasant pub in Kennington, Ashford.
It sits next to a mound in the middle of the land off Trinity Road and has been filled with empty bottles, crushed cans and even a disposable barbecue.
A number of dirt jumps have also been created but residents say they are only worried about the “dangerous” hole.
Dylan Rowe, who tried to fill in the void while out on a walk, says his main concern is for dogs who could fall in if they are off the lead.
“There's a group of teenagers that have recently taken to digging these dirt jumps,” he said.
“It's made a mess of the field but the 4ft-ish hole is my main concern, especially for people walking their dogs.
“When I was last on the field I tried to push some of the sand and dirt back into the hole to fill it but there's a fair bit that's been dug up.”
One dog walker told KentOnline it is only a matter of time before an animal, or even a child, falls in.
“It’s really is quite deep, and it’s only sand holding it up so it could easily collapse,” they said.
“I’ve tried reporting it but it’s private land so I don’t know who to go to.
“Nobody has an issue with the kids making the jumps, they don’t usually cause any problems, it’s just the hole that is the issue.”
Another neighbour said glass scattered on the path which runs parallel to the field is also an issue.
They added: “I think this is down to people not thinking about the consequences of their actions, rather than premeditated vandalism, or intention to cause harm.
“A lot of people walk their dogs and young children in these areas and it could be potentially very dangerous, especially the hole in the field that has appeared, and the potential for injury is very high for people, dogs, kids and wild animals alike.”
The hole has appeared just two months after three bus shelters were smashed in Trinity Road after "mindless morons" struck during a night of vandalism.
Glass was shattered along the pavement and four lampposts were also damaged.
The decision was made after vandals hurled a rock at a bus which smashed its window.
