POLICE have revealed that objects regularly thrown at cars on a road near Ashford may have been hurled from passing vehicles.
Officers stopped about 1,000 motorists on the A28 near Bethersden in a bid to find out more about the incident.
The road checks were carried out after Ro Govett, 41, from the Bethersden area, was hit in the face by a brick tossed at her windscreen.
Mrs Govett was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital with severe facial injuries. She is now recovering from major surgery in London's King's College Hospital.
Her 11-year-old daughter and son, 13, were in the car when it careered off the road but were not seriously injured.
Since the incident at least 26 similar reports have been made to police dating back to September. Despite these new leads, officers still need witnesses to come forward.
Passengers on the 400 Stagecoach bus from Ashford to Tenterden, on November 25, when a stone smashed a window, still haven't come forward.
Police would also like to talk to drivers of the vehicles that were directly behind Mrs Govett's car at about 6pm on November 27.
Drivers of two vehicles travelling on the opposite side of the road, heading towards Ashford, are also urged to contact Ashford police.
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 01622 654321 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
