A road had to be closed in both directions after a van crashed into a police car.

It had been parked up by officers while they dealt with an earlier accident on the A2070 between Bad Munstereifel Road in Ashford and Junction 10 of the M20 this morning.

The first, a collision involving two vehicles, happened at about 5.30am.

A police spokesman said: “Whilst officers were in attendance and arranging for the vehicles to be recovered, a van is reported to have collided with a parked police car at around 7.40am.

“The driver of the van reported injuries, believed to be minor. Enquiries with all the drivers involved remain ongoing.”

The road was reopened not long after 10am.
