The driver of a Mercedes that left the road and crashed into a bridge is being treated for serious injuries in a London hospital.
Emergency services were called to Junction 9 of the M20 in Ashford at about 4.40am following the incident on the roundabout.
The road was shut throughout the morning and only reopened at about 1.20pm as highways contractors worked to clear the scene.
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the driver of the Mercedes A-Class, which was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
An ambulance service spokesman confirmed the man in his 30s was assessed and treated for serious injuries before being taken by road to King's College Hospital.
Two fire engines attended the scene, along with the ambulance service's hazardous area response team.
The exit from Drovers Roundabout towards the motorway junction was shut for hours, causing delays on Simone Weil Avenue.
Drivers were also unable to join the London-bound M20 at Junction 9.
Kent Police is appealing for witnesses following the crash.
Officers would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the vehicle prior to the incident. They would also like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage that may assist their investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference DB/YP/21/21. You can also email sciu.td@kent.police.uk.
