Suspected drug dealer charged after reported burglary in Newtown

A 22-year-old man has been charged with dealing cocaine and amphetamines after a reported aggravated burglary in Newtown.

Omar Foster, of no fixed address, was arrested shortly after the incident in Alfred Road at 8.30pm on Sunday.

Residents reported seeing a number of emergency vehicles and police confirmed armed officers were at the scene.

A spokesman confirmed officers are investigating a burglary but no arrests have been made for this offence.

No one was injured, nothing has been reported missing and a police spokesman said enquiries are on-going.

A police spokesman said: "Armed officers were deployed to the scene as a precaution and stayed in the area to provide reassure to local residents."

Foster was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of amphetamine with intent to supply.

He was remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates via virtual Court yesterday (Monday).

He is still in custody.
