A main road was closed in both directions due to a serious collision.

The incident happened on the A2070 in Brenzett near New Romney and led to the route being shut for more than four hours.

As a result, the road was blocked from the A259 at Old Romney to the Hamstreet turn off yesterday evening while investigations were carried out until the early hours.

National Highways confirmed the road had reopened shortly after 1.30am.

Also in Ashford, traffic has been held on the M20 due to a police incident.

Police and ambulance have been contacted for comment on the accident on the A2070.
