An emergency incident - which turned out to be a false fire alarm - blocked a Kent town centre road this evening.
Stagecoach services through Ashford were delayed due to an emergency response in Vicarage Lane.
The company said in a tweet that its town services were stuck amongst emergency vehicles and would resume as soon as the road re-opened.
The company added: "We are unable to serve Bank Street stops until further notice. Please use stops in Elwick Road."
One resident wrote on Facebook: "Buses at stand still and cars, if you’re coming up Bank Street towards The Phoenix, don’t. No idea what’s happened."
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said crews were called at 7.18pm today to reports of a fire alarm sounding at a block of flats in Tufton Street.
She added: "Two fire engines attended, however it was a false alarm and no fire was found."
