THE family of Ashley Dighton have made an emotional appeal for help in catching his killers.

His sisters Anna, 27, and Amanda Dighton and their father Ambrose urged the public to help the police investigation during a press conference held at Ashford Police Station on Monday.

Acting Det Ch Insp Dave Withers, who is leading the investigation into Ashley's murder, said anyone with information could contact the police in confidence.

Amanda, 21, said: "We miss our brother dearly. He will always be in our hearts and he is sadly missed.

"If there is anyone out there who thinks they might have even the smallest piece of information which could help solve this crime we urge you to come forward."

Ambrose Dighton urged anyone who knows something but is protecting a friend or family member to speak out.

"It might be your loved one, one day, and think how you would feel if you never knew and no-one was brought to justice," he said.

Mr Withers said there was a argument outside Sainsbury's on the day Ashley disappeared, June 11, which someone might remember.

The 19-year-old's decomposed body was found in the wooded area behind the Warren Retail Park a month later. Last week the body was confirmed as that of Ashley following DNA tests.

Anyone who was in the area around lunchtime on Monday, June 11, is urged to contact police on 01622 654860 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
