The line-up for one of the area’s biggest free music festivals has been unveiled.

A Status Quo tribute band will be among the headline acts playing at this summer’s Create Music Festival in Victoria Park, Ashford.

Counterfeit Quo close the event which will run from midday to 8pm on July 26.

The festival, in its 14th year, is an annual showcase for local talent with bands, DJs and acoustic artists playing across three stages.

Headliners include up and coming local singer-songwriter Nick Harrison, whose blend of ska, indie and reggae has seen him recently signed to the same label as BRIT Awards winner Duffy.

There is also the Right Track Music School stage where up-and-coming bands can get a taste of performing live in front of an audience expected to be 5,000-strong.

This year Sandgate-based Sideways Recording, in collaboration in Most High Sounds will be hosting the DJ event showcasing local artists signed to the label as well as the best emerging local DJ talent. Organisers are still looking for more DJs for the event.

Create recently hit the headlines as the 2010 event is under question because of council budget cuts. But this year’s festival goes ahead as planned.
