Firefighters raced to a field in Blind Lane last night to tackle a suspicious car blaze.

The white Mitsubishi 4x4 was 'well alight' by the time crews got to the Mersham field at 10pm.

They sent one pump and teams spent around an hour extinguishing the blaze.

A spokesman for the fire service said they believe the fire was suspicious and the vehicle was completely burnt out after the incident.

Police have been informed.
