A combine harvester was damaged by fire when a blaze broke out in a field between Dover and Folkestone yesterday.
The alarm was raised just before 4pm when fire crews were called to 40 hectares of stubble and standing barley alight near Hockley Sole Lane in Alkham Valley.
When fire-fighters arrived they discovered that field was well alight and the combine harvester was also on fire.
They used water jets, foam and a fogging unit – which sprays super fine mist - to suppress the flames.
Five fire appliances and two water units were among the vehicles that attended.
