Firefighters have been scrambled to tackle a “large pile of smouldering grass cuttings”.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Chart Road in Ashford this afternoon, where a crew remains.

One fire engine was spotted travelling towards Great Chart earlier today.

Firefighters are currently at the scene using a hose reel jet to dampen down the blaze, a spokesman said.

“We were called to a large pile of smouldering grass cuttings in Chart Road, Great Chart, Ashford,” they added.
