A drunken man careered into railings with such force that he jammed his knee between the spindles and had to be freed by firefighters.
A fire crew was called to East Hill, Ashford at 8.45pm last night where they found the man, believed to be in his 70s, in a state of intoxication.
He was being propped up by his drinking partner and a member of staff from the nearby exclusive Ashford School.
The inebriated pensioner is believed to have wedged his knee in between the railings after collapsing to the ground.
Firefighters used a hydraulic spreader jack to prise the railings apart and free the pensioner.
An ambulance was called and paramedics checked the casualty but it is not known yet whether he was transferred to hospital for further treatment.
Police confirm that they received a call about the trapped man which they transferred to Kent Fire and Rescue to deal with.
