Barbecue fuel cylinder fire, Mill Hill, Kingsnorth, Ashford

Firefighters were called after a gas barbecue's fuel cylinder caught light.

It had been close to a single storey property.

It is believed that hot fat overflowing from the barbecue ignited and set fire to the cylinder.

Firefighters were called to the scene, at Mill Hill, Kingsnorth, near Ashford, at exactly 3.57pm today.

They put out the flames with a high pressure hose reel jet.

Nobody was reported injured and the firefighters were able to deal with the incident in just over 15 minutes.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service then gave safety advice to those affected and fitted the property with smoke alarms.
