Firefighters tackle blaze on wasteland after two youths set sofas and other waste alight behind Torrington Road in South Ashford

Firefighters put out a makeshift bonfire in wasteland in South Ashford last night.

Two youths were seen running away from the blaze behind Torrington Road around 6pm.

Firefighter Andy Haynes said they had set alight to sofas and wood that had been left outside after a house clearance.

Crews sent one engine and used a hose reel to put out the flames.
