Police and animal welfare officers were called after reports that yobs were setting off fireworks near to sheep in a field.
Officers were called to the field in the South Willesborough area of Ashford off the A2042 and A2070 on Tuesday, September 26.
Residents across the town reported loud bands starting in the late afternoon, and police say they were called to the fields shortly before 7pm.
There were reports on social media that the fireworks had been set off for a "test", but police say the RSPCA is handling the case.
A spokesman for the charity said: "We have been made aware of an incident involving fireworks allegedly being let off in a field full of sheep near Ashford.
"Fireworks can be extremely frightening for pets, farm animals and wildlife. The RSPCA is backing a campaign calling for a restriction on the private use of fireworks to all but certain days of the year. November 5, New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali.
"For now, while displays can take place at any time, we would urge people to take animals into consideration before setting off fireworks and ask them to ensure there are no farm animals or wildlife nearby.
"We would urge anyone with any information about this incident to call our appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and leave a message. The RSPCA will always look into, and if necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare."
