A burst water valve has flooded a Superdry store, forcing staff to close the shop.

The clothing store, which is located at the Ashford Designer Outlet Centre, temporarily closed yesterday and it is not yet known when it will reopen.

Signs in its windows say it has shut due to "unforeseen circumstances".

But Designer Outlet manager Peter Corr says the store is due to reopen later this week.

He said: "Superdry has temporarily closed due to a water valve bursting and flooding in-store.

"The safety and enjoyment of our guests is our main priority, so the store will remain closed while Superdry work to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

"We appreciate this may be disappointing to any customers who were hoping to visit the store this week but can assure guests that the store will re-open as soon as the situation has been resolved safely."

A Superdry spokeswoman added bosses are looking into the issue.

She said: "Due to problems with facilities in-store, we are currently investigating to find out when it will be reopened."

The Ashford Designer Outlet is currently undergoing a £90 million expansion, which will add 50 additional shops, a new food piazza, 725 parking spaces and a redesigned food court.

The work - which has also prompted the partial removal of the centre's iconic white canvas roof - is set to be completed by autumn 2019.
