Darren Smith’s hat-trick sent Folkestone Invicta to the top of Ryman League Division 1 South as the club registered their biggest win of the season with Saturday's 3-0 defeat of Horsham YMCA.
Smith (pictured) opened his account with a 16th minute penalty after he had been fouled by Steve Metcalf. He increased the lead in the 31st minute following good work by Dave Cory.
He completed his hat-trick during the seven minutes added for second-half stoppage time caused by an injury to YMCA goalkeeper Simon Lockwood.
Folkestone are next in action on Saturday when Sittingbourne are the visitors to Cheriton Road for an FA Cup first round qualifying tie.
