Neil Cugley has boosted his Folkestone squad with the signing of striker Dane Luchford and hopes to have a second new face available to face Ryman League Division 1 South leaders Dulwich Hamlet at Cheriton Road on Saturday.
Luchford is the younger brother of former Folkestone player and ex-Whitstable boss Justin. He followed his brother to Faversham, Horsham and Whitstable in the last couple of seasons and has also turned out for Kent Invicta League leaders Phoenix Sports recently.
Midfielder Shane Hamshare joined Invicta for training on Tuesday night and Cugley hopes he will be available at the weekend.
He said: "The chairman has told me that January and February will be two tight months, so we can’t pay anybody.
The Invicta boss confirmed that long-serving midfielder Darren Smith is taking on a player-coach role at the club. Smith has made more than 200 appearances for Folkestone.
Of leaders Dulwich Hamlet, Cugley said: "They play the right way, are attack-minded with some quick forwards but we are looking forward to the challenge. We still have to play Maidstone and Leatherhead twice but there is no pressure on us, it is all on the other teams."
