Neil Cugley said he feels like his players let him down as they suffered a shock FA Cup defeat against Badshot Lea on Saturday.
Invicta had led 2-1 with four minutes to go but conceded twice to go out 3-2 against their lower-division opponents in Surrey.
Cugley (pictured) said: “Against Herne Bay in the last round we were in control and we were in control again and I couldn’t see how they were going to get in it but they hit us on the break and scored.
“You have to give them credit. They threw everything at us, they were flying into the tackles. Jack Delo’s throw was unfortunate, they went into the tackle and then shanked it in.
“All of a sudden you’re thinking ‘oh my God it’s 2-2’ but by now we should have enough experience to hold on for the replay.
“But they broke away again and scored at the back post.”
Cugley, usually a staunch defender of his players, admitted: “I was disappointed with some of the players. I felt a few went missing. I felt let down, which is unusual for me.”
Cugley will be looking to avoid a repeat performance when Invicta host Merstham in the FA Trophy preliminary round on Saturday.
