Top scorer Stuart King looks likely to be out for a month after Folkestone Invicta’s Ryman League Division 1 South game at Crawley Down on Saturday.
King, who scored both goals in Tuesday’s 2-1 FA Cup replay win at Whyteleafe, is due for an operation on his arm after the game in Sussex.
The summer signing (pictured) played at Whyteleafe despite a hamstring problem and manager Neil Cugley explained: “Stuart wasn’t in the side when we arrived, but went out for a warm-up, and came in and said he would give it a go.
“I was pleased he played in the end because he made the difference. I don’t think he played that well, but he got two goals, which is a great thing for a striker.
“If he can learn to pass the ball a little bit more, especially when we are on the break, I can’t see why he can’t play a lot higher.
“He still felt a bit tight, but hopefully he will play at Crawley Down on Saturday.
“He will then have an operation on his arm which will put him out for another month. It’s a bit disappointing for us, but we knew about it when we signed him.”
Cugley is not taking the visit to newly-promoted Sussex County League champions Crawley Down lightly, being still without a point from the opening four games.
“They have signed five this week, and John Maggs (former Horsham and Crawley boss) has gone in there, and I am sure they won’t finish bottom.
“I think it will be a tough game over there.”
Injury problems still complicate Cugley’s selection options.
New boy Richard Atkins will be out for six weeks after breaking his collarbone against Whytleafe on Saturday, while Josh Burchell went off with an ankle injury on Tuesday night. Paul Jones is recovering from an ankle injury and could return.
