Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley is pleased with his side’s preparations for life in the Ryman League Premier Division after they chalked up their second pre-season win against Lordswood.

Simon Austin bagged a brace and Liam Dickson and Josh Vincent netted one each in a 4-1 win, leaving Cugley happy with the workout.

He said: "It was a good result and you’re always pleased to get the win.

"We only have a small squad so it was good to get through unscathed with no injuries.

"A lot of the players got 90 minutes, which was good for them."

Local lad Luke Webb was one of six players who played the full game and Cugley is hopeful that the left-sided defender will sign.

He added: "Luke did well on Saturday and I want him at the club. Hopefully we can sign him on Ryman League forms but other than that there is not much room for manoeuvre. We haven’t got the finances to chase people."

Folkestone continue their pre-season campaign against Leatherhead on Saturday, a team which Cugley believes will provide the toughest test ahead of their Ryman Premier opener against Croydon Athletic.

He said: "We were lucky to beat them in the play-offs last year and they are a good side.We need to play against the better sides and these are one of them."
