Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley has a clear idea of his targets for the remainder of the Ryman League Division 1 South season.
Cugley (pictured) wants Invicta to first of all cement a play-off spot in the coming few games, then tie up home advantage for the end-of-season finale, and once that is guaranteed, go all out for the title.
Goals from Brendon Cass and Darren Smith gave Invicta a 2-0 win over fourth-placed Fleet Town on Saturday to restore some impetus to Invicta’s title tilt. Tuesday's 2-0 home win over Merstham moved them to within a point of leaders Croydon although they have played one game more.
Invicta visit play-off chasing Walton & Hersham on Saturday and host Chatham on Easter Monday knowing they already have a substantial lead over the play-off hopefuls below them.
Cugley said: "It was a good weekend for us. We said to the players how nice it is to be involved at this time of year.
"We are very close to wrapping up a play-off place. Once you have firmed that up you want to try and get second or third to get home advantage – some of the places you might have to go are not too nice."
Cugley, however, insisted his side would not take their foot off the pedal once a place in the play-offs is secure.
He said: "We will keep going and continue to take every game as it comes until we can no longer win the title."
He added: "Whatever happens this has been a tremendous season."
Veteran midfielder Jimmy Jackson was rested for the 2-1 Kent Senior Cup win over Maidstone last Thursday and Cugley said his squad were in good shape going into the closing stages of the season.
He added: "We have got a few extra bodies. Paul Jones has left Ashford and has said he’ll play for us if needs be which will be handy.
"He’s not over a groin injury yet but he’s said he’ll sit on the bench. It could be usef
