Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley says his side will travel to Eastbourne Town this weekend in confident mood after snatching a late draw against Godalming last Saturday.

Invicta came back from 2-0 down in the final 18 minutes to keep their nine-game unbeaten run going to move two points off the top of the Ryman Division 1 South. The comeback came a week after surrendering a 2-0 lead of their own against Burgess Hill Town.

Cugley (pictured) said: "If it had been the other way around and we’d followed the Godalming game with the Burgess Hill result then we’d have felt a bit negative and it might have had an impact on the whole season.

"When you’re 2-0 down and down to 10 you wonder if the run is coming to an end and what impact it would have, but with the way it went we came out feeling positive and we can take that into our next game now."

Despite staying four points clear of the play-off-chasing pack, Cugley feels his fourth-placed side could be leading the division had they taken their chances in the last two games.

He said: ""It keeps us up there and gives us a bit of breathing space over teams like Godalming who are chasing, but I think we did enough to deserve to win.

"If you add that to the previous game then we really should have four more points on our total and be top of the league.

"I know we can’t dwell on that, we have to get on with it and try to get the three points when we go to Eastbourne on Saturday."

Invicta are full-strength for the trip to East Sussex to face 17th-placed Eastbourne, who have recorded just two wins in the past 15 league games.
