Arrests in Rylands Road, Kennington, Ashford, after cannabis equipment found

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and being involved in producing a controlled drug, following a street disturbance.

Neighbours say they heard a commotion in Rylands Road, Kennington, Ashford late last night and in the early hours of Saturday. .

Ann George said: "There was lots of noise and at one time we had four police cars parked here. We were first told the police arrested three men and then they came back to remove a large van.

"They have had a large police lorry and spent the day removing cardboard boxes along with long tubes and generators. I was told forensics have been there.

"It seems the house, which is rented, was occupied by a women with children but we've not seen them for a few months. It seems it has been turned into a cannabis farm."

It is understood a police dog was used to chase one of the suspects.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 11.35pm on Friday to reports of a disturbance at a empty property in Rylands Road, Kennington.

'Still in custody'

"Officers attended and found four men outside and a large amount of equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis."

The men, aged 43, 41, 34 and 25 were all arrested on suspicion of burglary and being "concerned in the production of a controlled drug".

They were all still in custody this afternoon.
