Ashford boss Steve Lovell fears his squad could be broken apart unless the club’s future is secured soon.
Off the field problems at the Ryman League, Division 1 South club have meant Lovell’s close-season plans are frozen and the players are open to offers from elsewhere.
Lovell (pictured right) said: "It’s a bit of a frustrating time for all of us. I want to get my squad sorted for next season. I know who I would like to keep and who I would like to bring in, but I can’t do anything until the off the field decisions have been made.
"We could end up losing players and that’s a big worry. The players won’t wait around too long because in the end something might not happen here and then they could be left without a club.
"The squad this year has been very good and I would like to keep most of the players.
"There have been no approaches for our players yet, but there most probably will be and I don’t blame them for trying to sort something out. "
Lovell added: "I know everyone here would like to stay together and next year could be very good and it’s just disappointing and frustrating that this has happened."
Lovell admits that he is also unclear as to his own future, but he’s pushing ahead and keeping positive.
He said: "I’ll do whatever people tell me to and hopefully they’ll tell me they want me to carry on. I’m the Ashford manager until told otherwise.
"We have to be positive and I’m hopeful that the problems can be ironed out and we can push forward and build on the last season and a half.
"It’s not just our football club, others in the same situation and there’s nothing we can do about it. I can’t blame anyone, it’s just something that happens.
"I’ll just sit tight and hope it gets resolved. I have faith in the people at this football club and hopefully they can sort everything out."
