With the three sides below them in Ryman League Division 1 South all losing, a late goal from Mitchell Sherwood earned Ashford a valuable point in their relegation battle after a 1-1 draw at Godalming on Saturday.
After a goalless first half Godalming took the lead when Lee Williams cut the ball back for Russell Pym to drive home from the edge of the box.
But, with five minutes left, Chris Borchescu's shot was handled in the box by James Wade and Sherwood, pictured, slotted home the spot kick.
At the other end of the table, Folkestone Invicta moved back into second place with a 2-0 home win over Fleet Town thanks to goals in each half from Brendon Cass and Darren Smith.
