Controversial plans to build 230 new homes on farmland adjoining an Ashford estate are set to be officially shelved.
Council officers want to scrap the development at Godinton Park because an alternative site has been found at Jemmett Road.
But 300 other homes may have to spring up at Conningbrook Lakes to pay for the leisure development there.
The changes have been proposed to a major development plan following public consultation and will be voted on by the borough’s cabinet on Thursday night.
Council deputy leader Gerry Clarkson (Con) said: “Our consultation is a meaningful exercise that establishes the views of the public and that their views are considered. Significant changes have been made as a direct result.”
The Urban Sites and Infrastructure Development Plan Document (DPD) had been put out to public consultation.

Plans to extend the Godinton Park by building the 230 new homes on farmland south of the estate met fierce local opposition.
A campaign group called Save Godinton Park Fields on Facebook attracted more than 100 members by February this year.
Now the cabinet will be asked to delete the site from the DPD.
