Steve Lovell says the groundsharing agreement with Maidstone is partly to blame for the number of games Ashford have seen postponed this season.

Town have not played at Homelands in Ryman League Division 1 South since October 24 and have had five home league games postponed in a row after last Wednesday’s relegation six-pointer against Whitstable and Saturday’s visit of Met Police fell foul of the weather.

The problem is an area in front of the main stand which is proving almost impossible to dry.

Lovell (pictured) said: "It is very frustrating but there’s nothing we can do. The pitch has had 40 games played on it already this season with Maidstone and our first teams, reserves and youth sides. The groundshare hasn’t done us any favours."

Town face at least 15 games in 56 days at the start of the new year, with Saturday-midweek-Saturday action for eight consecutive weeks.

Toby Ashmore is three weeks from action and Paul Jones a fortnight away but keeper Scott Chalmers-Stevens could return and Ross Morley and Joe Fuller could feature when Town return to action at Leatherhead on Saturday.
