Two thieves on bikes targeted a woman walking through an Ashford industrial estate, riding towards her at speed and snatching her handbag.
The theft took place at the Henwood Industrial Estate at about 3.10pm on Thursday and police are now appealing for witnesses.
The victim was walking along a footpath next to the riverside when two men rode past her on BMX bikes towards Henwood. They then went out of sight.
The victim continued onto a footbridge and reached the Henwood side when, she said, the same two men rode towards her at speed.
As one of the men got to her he reached out with his right arm, took the handles of her bag and pulled it from her grasp.
He then rode off towards Heathfield Road followed by the other man.
The woman tried to chase after the men but could not keep up.
The first man is described as white, in his late teens, of medium build with short brown hair. He was wearing a multi-coloured but mainly purple floral pattern vest top and light blue jeans.
The second man is described as oriental, in his late teens, of slim build with short black hair. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Andrew Dale said: “The victim tried to give chase to the men but was unable to reach them.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the men in the area at that time.”
