Heavy traffic along A28 Canterbury Road in Ashford after 'car and bike crash'

Emergency services were called to one of the main routes into a Kent town following a crash between a bike and a car.

The incident along the A28 Canterbury Road in Ashford at about 5pm today is said to have caused heavy traffic.

The Kennington route was partially blocked in both directions close to the Cemetery Lane turning following the collision, which prompted a response from police and paramedics.

An eyewitness told KentOnline: "Ambulances were there and there was a group of youths talking to police.

"There was a bicycle close by and a car up on the pavement outside the Harvester."

Traffic website Inrix reported "heavy traffic" along the route until about 6.30pm.

It says the collision involved a vehicle and a bicycle.

Police and ambulance service officials have been contacted for comment.
