Kent will be battered by heavy rain and high winds today.
Torrential downpours and powerful gales hit the county last night, however it is expected to worsen from this afternoon.
Starting from midday, the worst effects will be felt until about midnight - prompting yellow warnings from the Met Office for both wind and rain.
However showers are expected to continue until 9am tomorrow.
The run of bad weather has been predicted for a number of days, with public transport set to suffer.
The Met Office has cautioned that delays could be seen by train, car and plane users.
Drivers are being warned to drive slowly, and that residents should prepare for power cuts.
But the situation is worse elsewhere in the UK after Storm Brendan hit, causing widespread disruption and damage.
The area of low pressure moving across the south east as today progress is separate to the storm.
Seven flights set to land at Gatwick were diverted to other airports last night, with winds reaching 80mph.
A forecast by Windy.tv suggests Dover will be the worst-hit in terms of wind. There, speeds of up to 37mph could be seen from 9pm.
In The Channel itself, the shipping forecast is predicting "severe" gale force 9 conditions.
At about 7am, P&O Ferries tweeted: "All sailings are currently within 25mins of schedule, with the exception of: #POCalais: 07:05, which is expected to sail at 08:45.
"Boarding starts approx. 30mins before departure.
"Please accept our apologies and thank you for your patience."
Flood warnings have also been issued for the Isle of Sheppey and coastal areas from Kemsley to Seasalter and other areas at risk of tidal flooding include the Medway estuary and Isle of Grain, including Aylesford, the Medway Towns, Lower Halstow, Middle Stoke and Lower Stoke.
The shipping company is tweeting service updates via its twitter account throughout the day.
So far no disruption has been noted by Southeastern.
