A burst pipe has left 500 homes in a village without water and flooded a high street.
South East Water has made repairs to the main, which broke at about 10pm yesterday, but residents in Charing are still suffering knock-on effects.
The supply is expected to return soon in a slow, controlled process, and the road remains closed to traffic.
A video taken by villager Josh White at about 10.20pm shows a river of water gushing through the village.
William Bladock is one of those left with no water.
He said: “It has burst again for the second time in a year, leaving people including myself out of water and unable to get a drink.
“There are also quite a lot of elderly people in Charing as well and some of them may need a drink to swallow medication.
“The water main on the high street bursts often and leaves many having to fork out of their pension to purchase more expensive water.”
Nick Bell, South East Water’s head of operations for Kent, said: "I'm very sorry to anyone in Charing and the surrounding areas who have been experiencing no water or low pressure following a burst water main late last night.
"Our crews worked through the night and repairs were completed this morning.
"The majority of customers have had their supplies restored, but around 500 are still without and will see their drinking water supplies return in the coming hours as the water refills the area's network of pipes.
