Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to deal with a fire that broke out in the basement of a hotel in Sandgate.

Two appliances from Folkestone station responded to a call from staff at The Sandgate Hotel, Wellington Terrace, at around 11.50pm last night (Saturday).

Crews tackled the blaze for one hour, containing the fire in the room where it started.

The origin of the fire is under investigation.
