Hunt for Ashford handbag robber - on a bike

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robber snatched two women's handbags in Ashford while riding his bike.

The first incident was on April 26 in Beaver Road between 11am and 11.16am when a young male rode past a 46-year-old woman and snatched the purse from her hand.

The Ashford resident tried to keep hold of it but it slipped from her hands and she suffered a cut to her finger. At the time she was walking with a friend on her way to attend a dental appointment.

The second incident happened in Kingsnorth Road on May 4 between 1pm and 1.28pm.

A 36-year-old woman was walking back to work during her lunch break after visiting the Post Office in the town centre.

A young male on a bike rode past her and grabbed her handbag containing money, bank cards, a mobile phone and a diary.

The bag was later found dumped opposite Christ Church school.

The first victim described the young male as white, aged 18-25, 5ft 5in tall and slim. He was wearing blue jeans and a luminous yellow/green jacket with the hood up. She said he had a black bike.

The second victim described the offender as a young male. At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up.
