A thief stole an 80-year-old woman’s purse after he tricked his way into her house.

The distraction burglary took place at Felborough Close, Chilham, when a man called on the property claiming he wanted to discuss local crime and CCTV.

He then asked to use the toilet and it is believed that while he was in the house he took a purse from the woman’s bedroom.

It happened on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 3 and the cash was discovered missing next day.

Police are looking for a man described as in his 30s, of a stocky build, clean shaven and with dark hair. An undisclosed sum of cash was taken.
