Hunt for hit and run driver

A man has been seriously injured in a hit and run incident at Aldington.

Darren Smith was walking along Frith Road, Aldington, near Ashford at around 8pm on Wednesday when the incident happened.

The car - thought to be a green Citroen Saxo - threw the 36-year-old form Mersham clear of the road and into trees.

Officers, who believe the car was heading towards Hamstreet, are now appealing for witnesses.

Mr Smith was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where he is being treated for a serious leg injury.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police on 01303 850055.

They also want to hear from local garages who have been asked to repair a car for possible damage.
