Boss Scott Porter is targeting two wins in four days in order to maintain Hythe’s climb up the Ryman League Division 1 South table.
They host Chipstead on Saturday, before taking on improving Horsham at Reachfields next Tuesday, hoping to continue their timely return to form.
Porter made wholesale changes in the 4-3 Ryman League Cup second round defeat at Whitstable on Tuesday night, giving a run-out to several squad players, the only complication being Craig Cloke’s first-half dismissal for deliberate handball.
He said: "We went into the match wanting to give people game-time, because – and I don’t mean any disrespect to either the league or the competition – it is not our biggest priority. I don’t want to be travelling to the likes of Lowestoft or Leiston midweek in later rounds. It was a good work-out for us though."
Cook and former Bromley Green team-mate Kingwell have become two key figures in Hythe’s emerging side, after stepping-up from County League level in the side managed by Dave’s dad Clive, who is now Porter’s assistant.
Porter said: "Dave attracted offers from bigger clubs during the summer, and has done for the last two or three years."
