Scott Porter saw his Hythe Town team thrash Hastings 5-0 on Tuesday night – then sent them straight back out for another training session.
Boss Porter (pictured) is cutting no corners as he looks to boost Hythe’s fitness.
They’ve hit the ground running with Ronnie Dolan’s strike securing a 1-0 win over Conference South Eastbourne Borough on Saturday. That was followed by doubles for Dave Cook and Jimmy Dryden and a Taser Hassan goal against Hastings.
Porter said: "We’ve made a great start but there’s a lot of work to do. We still trained after the Hastings game.
"A normal Tuesday night session would be two hours yet some players only had 55 minutes in the game so it was important we did more work."
Hythe were missing six first-teamers against Eastbourne so Porter was delighted to beat a side who sit two divisions above them. Hastings sent a young team to Reachfields but it was still a useful exercise.
Porter said: "Hastings didn’t send a full side down but we still played at a good tempo and knocked the ball around nicely."
Hythe visit Kent League Lordswood on Saturday.
