Paul Fisk has stepped down as manager of Hythe Town.
Fisk (pictured right) has decided to focus his time on looking after his ill wife Pam after guiding the club to a second-place finish in the Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division.
He said: "In my seven years at the club, I have had a lot of ups and downs. But over the last couple of years, I think I have got Hythe somewhere near where they want to be.
"We should have won the league from the position we were in but probably did bottle it a bit. With my wife being ill, it does put things in perspective.
"For me the job was one of the things that kept me going. My wife has been involved with the club a lot and it has been an important part of our lives. It was just a shame we couldn’t win anything."
The club has moved quickly to promote assistant manager Scott Porter with coach Clive Cook becoming his No.2.
Chairman Paul Markland said: "Everyone at the club fully sympathises with Paul and understands that football can’t be his priority at the moment.
"Our thoughts are with Pam and Paul. I would like to thank him, both personally and on behalf of the club, for everything he has done to move Hythe Town forward to the strong position we are in today." Mr Markland explained the reasons for giving Porter the job.
He said: "I believe in giving people a chance and the board have backed me. Scott is a young manager and has impressed us with his plans. Clive adds the experience."
The new management team have already turned their attention to next season. "Clearly we want to go one better than Kent League runners-up," Mr Markland said.
