Scott Porter wants his players to show the right qualities to stay among the chasing pack at the top of Ryman League, Division 1 South.
Porter was a proud man on Tuesday night as goals by Craig Thompson and Nick Barnes earned a 2-0 win at Dulwich Hamlet to cap a successful month which has seen them climb from bottom to third.
The midweek win followed a 2-1 success at weekend leaders Crawley Down where strikes by Thompson and Ronnie Dolan helped them recover from going behind early inWest Sussex.
Boss Porter said: “They were two tough games but it was a great four days and everyone deserves credit.
“We have got back to our old ways, playing with a touch of consistency and didn’t give Dulwich time to breathe. Craig put us in front and then Nick scored from 30 yards. It was a goal worthy of winning any game.
“We have always said we wanted to get in the play-offs, now we have to show the nerve and character to stay there.”
Porter paid tribute to 19-year-old Dolan, who played and scored at Crawley Down following the death of his father last week.
Porter said: “He showed great character. He is only a boy but has become a man in my eyes. Everyone at the club is supporting him and his family.”
Hythe host Whitstable on Saturday. Pat Kingwell starts a three-game ban and Porter hopes to draft in cover on a dual registration. He has also put in seven days for Whitstable defender Sam Groombridge.
