Hythe Town manager Scott Porter will not be short on motivation this weekend as his side make their first foray into the FA Trophy.
A home tie against Burgess Hill Town represents a chance for Hythe to gain revenge for their 3-2 defeat against the West Sussex side at Reachfields last month.
Porter (pictured) admitted the result was still a sore point within the squad and challenged his players to take out their frustrations by reaching the second qualifying round of non-league’s premier cup competition.
He said: "Saturday is a massive game. It’s our first game in the FA Trophy and hopefully we can progress. Last year, in the FA Cup, was a fantastic experience and we’ve got so many memories.
"We owe Burgess Hill one because we were disappointing that day, we weren’t at our best. That’s my team talk done and dusted. We try to prepare the same for each game but when a team comes down and turns you over, there was a lot of anger from certain people."
Richard Sinden scored for the home side on his return to the club from Faversham and Porter said the striker would have a crucial role to play in the coming months.
He said: "I’m missing Brendon Cass (broken foot) for six or seven weeks and although I’ve got strikers there, I’d not got a goal-poacher and that’s what Sinden is."
Tom Parker remains sidelined and Ronnie Dolan is still struggling with a back injury, although Craig Thompson and Lee Winfield are set to return.
