Excitement is building for the annual Pyjama Walk in aid of the Pilgrims Hospices.
The 10K trek will take place this Saturday, starting at the Ashford Designer Outlet, in Kimberley Way.
Walkers are invited to jazz up their jim jams and parade round the town in aid of the charity, which provides palliative care for people at its three hospices in east Kent.
Entertainment, which starts at 8.30pm, will be provided by Ashford Sings! and the San Pelo Mar, Whitstable’s Community Samba Band.
There will also be a memory wall at the shopping centre, which participants can place a star and message on for any lost loved ones.
The walk will then start at 10pm.
Walkers can enjoy foot massages at the end to complete their evening, as well as receiving one of Pilgrims’ unique Pyjama Walk medals.
Hundreds of people are expected to take part, including friends, colleagues, hen parties and families.
Sarah Norrington is gearing up for the trek in memory of her sister Claire Lancewood who sadly passed away at the Ashford hospice last year.
Sarah and her team will be dressed up as Care Bears and called ‘Claire’s Bears’.
She said: “Claire would have been 29 last week, making the event especially poignant for our family.
“Claire was cared for by the amazing staff at Pilgrims Hospices.
“Our family were there every day of her stay including my young daughter, allowing plenty of time for cuddles from her auntie.
“My sister was a fun loving girl with a heart of gold and she would love the idea of joining hundreds of walkers in pyjamas to have fun and raise valuable funds.”
Online registration will close at midnight today. Go here to sign up.
Walkers can still register on the night for £15 for over 16s and £10 for under 16s.
