Forget flat screens, iplayers and the internet – 40 years after the first colour television pictures were transmitted, people are still watching in black and white.
New figures from TV Licensing show that 40 homes in Ashford and 30 in Folkestone stil hold black and white licences.
A spokesman said: “The figures show there may be life in the oldest TV equipment.
“Despite many developments in new ways of watching TV, and sales of flatscreen sets soaring, this shows black and white sets are not ready for the dump just yet.”
The cost of a licence may have something to do with it. A colour one is £142.50 a year while black and white is just £48.
