Workers in Ashford who organise complex contraflow systems on motorways have been told their jobs are safe after the sale of their specialist firm.

Anglia Traffic Management Group, which employs 20 people at its Ashford depot, has been bought by Eve Trakway, a supplier of temporary access and crowd control equipment.

Anglia’s services include multi-phase motorway contraflow systems, rural and urban road schemes, special event sign management and the provision of impact protection vehicles and traffic signals, temporary road markings and sign hire.

An Eve Trakway spokeswoman said: “All of the jobs in Kent are secure and over the long term the company hopes to grow the Kent division.”

Eve Trakway supplies temporary roadways, walkways, barriers, bridges and fences formost sectors of industry.

It worked on recent events such as Glastonbury Festival, the London Marathon and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Anglia is Eve Trakway’s third acquisition in just nine months. The company says the deal - for an undisclosed sum - will mean growth for Anglia in Kent, Cambridge and Scotland.

Anglia has been based at Willesborough Road, Kennington, for two years and is a major player in traffic management design and systems. The acquisition aims to help Eve Trakway achieve its goal of offering an “all-encompassing service for both events and industrial customers.”

Anglia’s managing director Ian Muncaster said: “Being part of a much larger all-encompassing operation is a fantastic opportunity, both for us and our customers.”
