A Kent man is spearheading a national protest against rising fuel prices.

Peter Carroll, a Folkestone haulage boss, is heading up a campaign to crack down on rising petrol prices.

He helped set up the Fair Fuel UK campaign, which is marching on the House of Commons today - even though Mr Carroll has had to be away in Qatar on business.

Top Gear presenter Quentin Willson will be on College Green, opposite the House of Commons, to present MPs with letters from the Fair Fuel UK Campaign.

The group's website says: "The rising price of fuel is hurting the economy. All road users are suffering - the road freight companies, general businesses and motorists. Businesses are being ruined and people are struggling."

The Fair Fuel UK campaign aims to force the Government to abandon the next increase in fuel duty planned for April, and to put in place a fuel price stabiliser to keep fuel costs down.

The movement is supported by the road freight industry, including the two leading industry associations.
