A tiny car park featuring just five spaces is due to be sold at an auction.
The facility in Queen Street, Ashford has been listed with Clive Emson at a freehold guide price of £25,000-£30,000, and is considered “suitable for redevelopment.”
Bosses at NCP, who previously ran the town’s Park Mall car park, currently closed, opened the site in Queen Street in October 2022.
The parking area, which is marked out as five parking bays, is within walking distance of Ashford College, the railway station and the town centre.
Clive Emson says subject to all necessary consents being obtainable, the tiny space could be redeveloped, raising questions over what it could be become.
However it could also remain a car park after the auction and has been described as offering “useful private parking for residents and town centre businesses.”
The auction will take place on Wednesday, March 20.
Bosses of the 24-hour facility said at the time they are always looking for potential sites, of all sizes, in a variety of locations around the UK.
However, Ashford business owners were not convinced the five spaces would make a difference during busy periods.
Vince Monticelli, owner of The Record Store in Park Mall, told KentOnline in 2022: "I don't think the new site will make a blind bit of difference.
“I don't even know where the Queen Street car park is.
“Edinburgh Road opening would be even better."
Others questioned whether Queen Street was a good location and argued it wouldn’t make up for the closure of Park Mall, which shut in 2021.
