BRIAN WOODHAM AND THOSE KEYS: "I did it without thinking and just acted on instinct..."

A 64-year-old man has spoken about the moment he came face to face with armed robbers and attempted to foil a raid at a Kent supermarket.

Grandfather Brian Woodham was shot twice in the leg but escaped uninjured when he took on the masked men who fled with thousands of pounds after raiding a Securitas van at Asda's store in Kimberley Way, Ashford, on Wednesday morning.

The shots were deflected by a bunch of keys in the pocket of his jeans, leaving him with just a bruise.

Mr Woodham, from Ashford, decided to take on the gun-wielding thieves because he thought they were carrying toy guns.

He said: "My daughter is calling me Superman but my girlfriend wasn’t too happy. I did it without thinking and just acted on instinct and adrenaline."

He stresssed: "If it wasn’t for those keys it would have been a hospital job."

Today Mr Woodham talked in detail to kmfm and the Kentish Express.
