A killer who “bragged about murder” gouged a friend’s face in a row over a rug - forcing him to jump from a first-floor window.
Smelling of whisky Glenn Linaker banged on his neighbour’s door in Folkestone demanding £40 for the loaned floor covering, or the prospect of being killed.
The 64-year-old, who has a history of violence including manslaughter, became enraged when his former-pal couldn’t pay, a court heard.
“After sometime the defendant became aggressive, the victim became concerned as he (Linaker) had bragged about doing twenty years for murder,” prosecutor Erin Kandola explained.
“The defendant said ‘if I don’t get my money by 10am I will kill you - you are easy to kill.’”
Linaker then set upon his victim inside his home, throttling, gouging and making death threats over payment for the brown and white carpet.
Grabbing his neighbour’s jumper above his head and pulling him around the living room, Linaker then pushed him, smashing the bathroom mirror.
"If I don’t get my money by 10am I will kill you - you are easy to kill..."
He then manhandled the victim onto the bed where he began strangling, elbowing and gouging his ears, mouth and nose, Canterbury Crown Court heard.
“The defendant continued to threaten the victim saying ‘I’m going to kill you unless you get me the money for the rug,’” Miss Kandola said.
The barrister added Linaker’s victim vowed to make payment, however, he was prevented from leaving the Gladstone Road flat in the early hours of September 22 last year.
Fearing his life was in danger, he jumped from his first floor window injuring his ankle, hid for an hour, and escaped to Folkestone Police Station.
Linaker was arrested the same day and gave a no comment interview, Miss Kandola explained.
“The victim is worried if he goes back to his flat he will be Glenn’s next victim,” she added.
Linaker has 17 convictions for 28 offences. They include manslaughter, two counts of wounding, six for causing actual bodily harm, a weapons offence and battery.
No further details of the manslaughter conviction were given in court, apart from Linekar spending six-years in prison.
But Keiran Brand, mitigating, argued Linaker relapsed after cleaning up his act during a 16-year alcohol abstinence period.
He added Linaker had been “using his time in custody wisely”, quit drinking and is remorseful.
“He wishes Your Honour, through me, to apologise to the victim and the court.
“His flat will be lost at the end of this month and he won’t be moving back into the path of the victim,” he added.
Yet judge Rupert Lowe sentenced Linaker to an extended prison sentence for causing Actual Bodily Harm after a psychiatric report deemed him a “serious public risk.”
“You put your hands and fingers into his mouth, nose and ears, causing him maximum pain.
“You then threatened to kill him, unless you got your forty pounds or the rug.”
Linaker was handed a 51-month extended sentence, two years and three months custody followed by two years extended licence.
