Ashford teenager charged after knives seized in town memorial gardens

Knives have have been seized in Ashford Memorial Gardens, with one man appearing in court.

An officer spotted suspicious activity in the gardens yesterday before two further officers from the team also attended.

A group of people were stopped and searches led to two knives being seized and a pair were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

A 17-year-old boy has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Edward Graversen, of Rutherford Road in Ashford, has been charged with possession of a knife and breach of a knife crime prevention order.

The 18-year-old appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
